The site includes a variety of story ideas under several categories of potential interest. For example, the category “Sip & Savor” introduces Yolo County wineries, restaurants, and breweries. Other categories include Shop & Stroll, Adventure & Outdoors, Uniquely Yolo, Farm to Fork, and Explore UC Davis.
One specific story features “The Beer-Muda
Triangle,” a suggested driving or bicycle tour to microbrews in Davis
(Sudwerk), Woodland (Black Dragon) and Winters (Berryessa Gap), with a sidebar
listing other locations for outstanding selections of suds.
The site also promotes press trips, where
members of the media can come on a guided tour.
“The site is meant to serve as our electronic
press kit,” says Tiffany Dozier, PR and Communications Manager for the YCVB.
“We want to engage writers, bloggers, TV and radio stations, anyone with an
interest in covering Yolo County for their followers.”
“Besides the story ideas, we provide detail
about our major events, lots of photography, our promotional video, and our
contact information,” says Alan Humason, Executive Director of the YCVB “The
site will constantly be updated with press releases plus new photos and videos
as they become available. And we may incorporate a blog feature that we are
developing for our regular visitor website.”
The Yolo County Visitors Bureau works to encourage visitation to the
communities of Davis, Winters, and Woodland and the outlying areas of Yolo
County. We offer a variety of brochures and services at our Visitor Center, 132
E Street, Suite 200, in downtown Davis. For more information, call (530) 297-1900
